ABOUT ME

Welcome!

My name is Tamar, which means "date palm" in Hebrew.
I am a settler, living and working on the unceded territory of the Lekwungen-speaking peoples, colonially known as Victoria, BC.

My approach to therapy and counselling with adults is very much as a journey. I hold space for the processes of personal change, growth, evolution and healing. Some of the central elements I offer within therapeutic space are authenticity, deep listening, non-judgement and compassion. My practice is trauma-informed and I am committed to providing person-centred care that is supportive, affirming, and inclusive.

The therapeutic modalities I most often draw from include Somatic Experiencing (SE), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Mindfulness-based practices. I am also an Expressive Arts Practitioner (EAP) and am able to to bring creativity (visual art, writing, movement) into our process if desired.

My areas of practice include grief and loss, end of life, life transitions, anxiety, self esteem, and stress.

I am committed to continual learning and integrating innovative ways to support clients.

I currently work as a Bereavement Counsellor for Victoria Hospice.
